I think we should implement a training dome in the Wars and SMKW. It would be a special arena with customizable options (fill with water, fill with lava, torrential downpours, etc.) that two armies could fight in without casualties or consequences. It'd be a good place for allies to train and hone their skills.
Now, I don't suggest this idea actually come into play unless we get many many new members. Unless the contestents themselves would write their own mini-battles. Or, battle-writing-wannabes could practice writing skills here. Now, I'm not even saying this is a good idea. I was just thinking about it for some reason, thought I might share my idea. I could care less if it's the dumbest idea on earth, if thats what your're thinking. Just random idea from the inner core of mah mind.

Yeah, but the reason I see people turning it down are for two reasons:
1) Not enough members 2) Lack of practical-ness

It's totaly practical. The whole point of The Wars is having fun, and waging battles is part of that fun. Sure, you don't get rewards, but you don't get losses either. Plus, as you said, it gives the people who want to write battles a chance to show their skills.

I don't like it, it takes away some of the reason to actually go to war.

I like it. It allows for people to test out battles without worrying about losses.

I like it. This is kind of what I wanted to do in the last wars (Secret project X), but just gave up on it.
Plus, if you win here, why not do the real thing?

I see it as a way of building strategy. I like.

No it doesn't. Not the way I intend to do war. But, instead of training dome, how about computer simulation? It doesn't make sense that casualties can be avoided if the battle actually happens.

Yes, yes it does. Trying out a strategy is one of the reasons to go to war. Like vidguy said before, we need to go to war more.
Not to mention a sufficient increase in the amount of
"Sorry my strategy is 3 days late, I was working on teh Training Dome Battle."
"Oh, sorry about not having the update up sooner. I was working on strategy for the training dome."
"Could you please pick another time to attack me? I already have to send in my other strategy for the training dome, and I have write a battle for the Dome."

Well, then those need to be deemed insufficient excuses. Make it against this forum's code to treat the training dome as more important than the actual game.
And here's a reason I say it won't do what I'd like it to- I intend to steal stuff. It's what my army is based around. That's what I intend to do when I go to war.
Thinking about it, this training dome may actually bring life back to the game. If it truly destroys the actual game, then we'll just have to decide if that's a bad thing, and if it is, we can destroy it. This shouldn't harm the game mechanically at all. We can undo it effortlessly.
